Within the west for many centuries, political mobalization has always involved group song. Can we say that this would be the case now? Can we imagine the breaking into song of the mass? And is this loss of possibility just a symptom of a change of musical culture, or does the change of musical culture present a symptom of the loss of the possibility of mass political mobilization?
